I think Peter's point is also to remind the church of the same in light of the opposition and suffering that they faced. After giving the example of the two refugees being held for deportation, I received the following update from a church member in Austria, who has written to the officials asking them to reconsider their decision. He wrote the following to the officials: "...I want to confirm that during his stay in Austria, he converted to Christianity. If he is sent back to his country, his life would definitely be in danger. I observed a real change in his life when he made a decision to become a Christian. He was involved in a local church, and he also attened an alpha course (training in the basics of the Christian Faith). Please take my comments into consideration when you look into this case" I think when we follow through on what Peter is saying in this passage, then one of the results is that what is hidden in our heart, the stuff of our prayers, becomes observable. Most likely, the officials will claim this is all about the Law and preserving the State, and that it has nothing to do with Faith, However, I believe it is a mistake for the officials to think that trusting in God as these refugees have confessed is somehow a private belief that others will not see or care about. This is not about Law any more than it is about beliefs. This is about identity and the freedom of religion. And quite possibly, these refugees could be killed because of this. Sie hat es von mir bei einem Besuch im Jänner 09 bekommen. Genau solche Beispiele wünsche ich mir noch viele. Zudem haben wir ihnen das Neue Testament (gesprochen auf persisch) und einige Botschaften mit Lobpreisliedern (persisch) zusätzlich draufgespielt. Beide freuten sich sehr.
